Before Sunrise On Bentley Pond by Dale Kauzlaric -- The sunrises lately have been rather outstanding and that is what I was hoping for on this morning. The day before was cloudy and rainy, but it was suppose to clear during the night. I got up early and looked outside and it was clear. I was hoping for some clouds in the east to enhance the color. The stars were shining bright with no clouds. I still headed to Bentley Pond located north of Stevens Point located in Portage County, Wisconsin. The sky started to lighten in the east at least a hour and a half before sunrise. The sky turned blue, as it was heading to sunrise. This is about 12 minutes before sunrise and the yellow color could be seen. There was no wind and the reflection was perfect. Normally, this time of year, a lot of water is already ice covered, but with the abnormally warm weather, the pond was still ice free. -- dalekphotography.com

As a Wisconsin-based photographer and having grown up in Vilas County with its over 1,300 lakes, the outdoors runs through my veins. Through the 40 years of chasing images with a camera, landscape photography is my favorite, particularly landscapes with water, any kind of water. Colorful sunrises and sunsets can be captivating. Shooting after the sun goes down can yield amazing images. Waterfowl or other wildlife can provide quite the challenge to get up close in their natural settings. Someone left a comment on one of my sunset images about capturing the colors the master painter provided.
