Cloudy Sunrise Over A Spring Fed Pond Panorama by Dale Kauzlaric -- I had a plan to go out before dawn on Saturday, but it was cloudy out. So, I went out for the sunrise and found that this spring-fed pond east of Wausau located in Marathon County, Wisconsin, was open with geese and hooded mergansers on it. This was right after the sunrise. There was a slight crack on the eastern horizon for the sun to show itself (left center of the photo). The stratocumulus clouds over this pond had this cool rippled look, but they changed pretty quick and it turned a solid gray. I also liked that the pond was rimmed in snow yet. There was no wind and the clouds and trees are reflected like in a mirror. This panorama view is three images wide. -- dalekphotography.com
As a Wisconsin-based photographer and having grown up in Vilas County with its over 1,300 lakes, the outdoors runs through my veins. Through the 40 years of chasing images with a camera, landscape photography is my favorite, particularly landscapes with water, any kind of water. Colorful sunrises and sunsets can be captivating. Shooting after the sun goes down can yield amazing images. Waterfowl or other wildlife can provide quite the challenge to get up close in their natural settings. Someone left a comment on one of my sunset images about capturing the colors the master painter provided. I guess that would sum up what I try to do, that is to capture that opportunity that God provides and share it to the best of my ability by telling...
