Description
Golden Earthshine Crescent Moon And Reflection by Dale Kauzlaric -- I left the house at sunset to see what the night would bring. As I was driving, I could see the crescent moon in the west. I got to a small lake near Wausau, Marathon County, Wisconsin. The moon was heading to the horizon to set. As it got closer to the horizon, it started to turn more golden. There were some wispy clouds in the west and there was still humidity in the air from the day’s earlier rain. Although it was just a crescent, the rest of the moon was visible. The crescent portion of the moon is being illuminated by the sun, while the rest of the moon is being illuminated by light being reflected from the Earth. This is called Earthshine when sunlight reflected off the Earth hits the moon and is reflected back to Earth again. I loved the golden glow and the moon's reflection on this night. -- dalekphotography.com
