Mallard Greenheads and Hen by Dale Kauzlaric -- I went to my favorite spring pond in rural Marathon County Wisconsin, and to my surprise it was 90 percent froze over in spite of the recent warm weather. The only open water was the creek itself. I could see some mallards at the far end of the visible part of the creek. I moved to find a spot where I could get a look and found an area of where the creek was open for 10 yards. I sat and waited for an hour and this hen mallard and drake mallards swam by, giving me a great opportunity. -- dalekphotography.com

As a Wisconsin-based photographer and having grown up in Vilas County with its over 1,300 lakes, the outdoors runs through my veins. Through the 40 years of chasing images with a camera, landscape photography is my favorite, particularly landscapes with water, any kind of water. Colorful sunrises and sunsets can be captivating. Shooting after the sun goes down can yield amazing images. Waterfowl or other wildlife can provide quite the challenge to get up close in their natural settings. Someone left a comment on one of my sunset images about capturing the colors the master painter provided. I guess that would sum up what I try to do, that is to capture that opportunity that God provides and share it to the best of my ability by telling...
