A Path Less Traveled by Dale Kauzlaric -- I went looking for the mature buck I had seen the previous month near Wausau in Marathon County, Wisconsin. As I started my walk, the deer were scarce. Eventually, I did see four other little bucks and about a dozen does. But what was interesting about the morning walk, was how the light changed while I was there. It was sunny when I got there. After a good 30 minutes, the light changed to a hazy golden color. I think it started to warm just enough (it was in the 20s), that the moisture on the ground started to lift in a slight fog. The woods changed almost instantly. When I finished my walk, I turned around and this is what the path I traveled on, looked like, all lit up. -- dalekphotography.com
As a Wisconsin-based photographer and having grown up in Vilas County with its over 1,300 lakes, the outdoors runs through my veins. Through the 40 years of chasing images with a camera, landscape photography is my favorite, particularly landscapes with water, any kind of water. Colorful sunrises and sunsets can be captivating. Shooting after the sun goes down can yield amazing images. Waterfowl or other wildlife can provide quite the challenge to get up close in their natural settings. Someone left a comment on one of my sunset images about capturing the colors the master painter provided. I guess that would sum up what I try to do, that is to capture that opportunity that God provides and share it to the best of my ability by telling...
